Use your operating profile to shape the design
A building with steady daytime demand has different priorities from a facility running shifts or critical equipment around the clock. Share recent bills, operating hours, major electrical loads and any planned expansion so the initial recommendation reflects the business.
Generation, self-consumption and permitted export arrangements must be assessed together. Backup power is a separate design question. A conventional on-grid system is not a replacement for an outage plan.
Review the roof, access and ownership early
Commercial projects need practical attention to structural condition, roof material, shading, drainage, access and existing services. Electrical rooms, cable routes and a safe maintenance path also affect design.
For a leased site, agree owner permissions and consider how the lease term relates to the proposed installation. Identify who authorises work, who holds the electricity connection and who will manage maintenance after handover.

- Equipment makes, models, warranties and monitoring scope.
- Mounting, structural work, electrical protection and access requirements.
- Applicable applications, metering, inspections and commissioning responsibilities.

- Taxes, payment stages, exclusions and maintenance arrangements.

Plan delivery around your operations
Discuss roof access, working hours and any interruption to electrical supply before installation. The final project agreement should explain responsibilities, the handover process and how changes or delays are handled.
For hospitals, schools and other occupied facilities, describe service-critical areas and visitor or patient access restrictions. These details belong in the planning conversation from the start.
Keep maintenance in the business plan
Arrange responsibility for monitoring, cleaning access, inspections and reporting faults. An annual maintenance contract should explain what is included, replacement-part exclusions and the agreed service process.

Can a business use solar without batteries?
A grid-connected system may operate without batteries. Whether that is suitable depends on the site’s supply, usage and backup needs.
Do you offer a fixed payback period?
No. Payback depends on the final project cost, consumption, generation, tariffs, financing and operating conditions. Ask for assumptions to be stated in the proposal.
